EKO-Stahl, Eisenhüttenstadt, Germany, 2004

EKO-Stahl (originally: ArcelorMittal Eisenhüttenstadt) is the steelfactory in the east of Germany, close to the border with Poland. The goverment of the former GDR build the factory and the adjoining town of Eisenhüttenstadt from scratch. This because  of ideologic reasons.

The photo documentary shows the moment of adding prepared cokes into the blast-furnace till the cutting of the pieces made of crude steel. Wich will be prepared for semi-manufactured products.
